GROUP VISITS
to Puhoi and its Bohemian Settlers Museum

We offer:

  • an interesting museum with a focus on Puhoi's founding settlers

  • a lively and informative talk on the history of this unique village

  • a visit to Puhoi's beautiful wooden church

  • a guided tour of the village (optional)

  • a performance by the "Bohemian Dancers" (by special arrangement)

You can also:

  • have lunch at the "Puhoi Cottage" or the "Art of Cheese " café

  • or enjoy a picnic on the river bank by the wharf

  • or visit the historic Puhoi Pub

  • or take a 40 minute (return) bush walk to the lookout above the village (well worth doing if your group is reasonably fit!)

We cater for:
Social clubs, schools, tourism companies, service clubs, retirement homes and any other groups.

Our service includes: all possible assistance to group organisers and a Puhoi experience tailored to the precise needs of your particular group.

Our charges are: $3.- per person for museum entry and talk with an additional $2.-for the village guided tour. "Bohemian Dancers" by special arrangement.

INVITATION TO ORGANISE A GROUP VISIT TO PUHOI


The historic village of Puhoi has a fascinating story to tell about the early settlement of New Zealand.

There was little of the constant movement of people in and out of the village, which is so typical of other early settlements around the country. That makes Puhoi unique because the tales of hardship and progress, struggle and success have all been preserved and handed down to the present day.

And the Puhoi Historical Society is where it is all recorded.

We invite you to organise a group and pay us a visit. Our presenters will make you very welcome and we can guarantee an informative and entertaining experience for all participants.

We cater for all groups from schools to rest homes and from clubs to tour groups. Presentations are taylored to the needs and areas of interest of the audience concerned. Visits usually comprise the museum and our beautiful church but we also offer a guided tour around the village with an emphasis on points of historic interest. Depending on your group and the time available, there are a variety of things you can do in Puhoi besides visiting us. You can go for a short walk through the bush to the lookout above the village, canoe on the river or just have a leisurely drink or lunch. So, your visit can be as short as 30 minutes or as long as several hours. It's up to you and your group.
